Stories in the Park

The 2020 COVID-19 pandemic presented extreme creative challenges. Joining theaters across the United States, Cortland Repertory Theatre was forced to cancel its summer season for the health and safety of its patrons.

As the House Manager for Cortland Repertory Theatre in 2020, I was furloughed until the theater was able to reopen safely for performances. In the meantime, I volunteered my time as a graphic designer, photographer, project planner, and artist, utilizing my passion for the arts and collaboration to build an experience for our community.

Stories in the Park, a socially distant theatrical experience in historic Dwyer Park and home to the Cortland Repertory Theatre's summer performances, was the result of a collaborative effort among Cortland Repertory Theatre, Cortland Repertory Theatre Youth Program, SUNY Cortland Musical Theatre, Cortland Performing Arts Institute, and Cortland Youth Bureau Summer Drama.

My creative collaboration contribution includes:

  • Creating a rainbow art installation activated by the breeze of Little York Lake with the socially distant assistance of Tompkins Cortland Community College's recent graduates and current students. The installations bookended the theatrical experience.

  • Promotional photography and designing graphics for social media and websites

  • Painted Fancy Fruit for an I Spy game and designed an I Spy checklist

Ghosts in the Park

Through the continued challenges of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, it became clear that we needed a safe solution for trick-or-treating.

Ghosts in the Park was a second socially distant theatrical experience in historic Dwyer Park, and home of the Cortland Repertory Theatre summer performances, was the result of a collaborative effort with Cortland Repertory Theatre, Cortland Repertory Theatre Youth Program, SUNY Cortland Musical Theatre, Cortland Performing Arts Institute, and Cortland Youth Bureau Summer Drama. Families were able to drive through the spooky park and interact socially distanced with actors, dodging tricks to receive their treat at the end of the experience.

My collaboration contribution includes:

  • Acting

  • Promotional photography and designing graphics for social media and websites

  • Painted Monsters for an I Spy game and designed an I Spy checklist
